How to use the Skitter

Before you have the child use the Skitter or similar ride on toy (Plasma Car), make sure that it is a safe area for them to ride in addition to wearing safety equipment.  See our Safe Play Tips for more safety information.

The proper way to operate the Skitter or Plasmacar is to sit comfortably on the seat, then place your feat on the foot pads.  The Skitter or plasma ca will move forward by moving the steering wheel a quarter turn to the left and right.  As the rider improves this movement they will naturally start to move their body with the lateral movement of the Skitter.  This activity will provide the rider with upper and core body strength.  The ultimate challenge for the rider is to attempt to rider the Skitter or plasmacar up a slight grade.  Of course the most enjoyable part is coming down the grade but in doing so the workout is increased.  We have supplied Skitters to Hospitals, therapy clinics and schools that work with kids with special needs. 


              


The Skitter is one of the safest toys made with its plastic molded body construction and two front safety stabilizer wheels that prevent the toy from going end over.  From my years of experience as a Recreation Therapist, the Skitter is the one toy that provides the learning skills needed to progress to other play equipment for future fun. 

We have even had reports of people, believe it or not, mothers who have ridden the Skitter playing with their kids losing weight and inches!
